I am learning the fundamentals of game design, coding, and storytelling to create fun and engaging experiences. In my free time I enjoy snowboarding, playing guitar, gaming, and spending time with my son.

Bibble's World

Bibble's World is a 2D side-scrolling platformer built in Unity as my first solo project, where players collect coins, avoid obstacles, dodge traps, and unlock alternate player skins through an in-game shop. The game features smooth character movement, dynamic skin swapping via prefab instantiation, and a persistent currency system that tracks progress across levels.

Developed using C#, I built core systems including the coin bank, skin unlock/shop logic, level completion gates, and dynamic player spawning. I also integrated Unity's Cinemachine to follow the active player skin in real time, created responsive UI elements (pause menu, coin counter, level completion, etc), and handled all debugging, prefab management, and save/load logic using PlayerPrefs.

Auto-bahn

Auto-bahn is a fast-paced 2D top-down infinite runner that puts players in control of a speeding vehicle, weaving through dense traffic on an endless highway. Designed with a retro pixel art style, the game delivers a nostalgic yet modern gameplay experience, complete with custom-made graphics and original audio.

Throughout the duration of this project I worked with two partners using C++ in a custom SDL Framework designed by my game development class. I personally had a heavy hand in programming the mechanics, collision detection, bug fixing, Menu UI's (Car Select Screen & Pause Menu) and creating the graphics. Along with bug fixes for the "Enemy Police AI Controller"

The Trials of Dennis

Created for a Game-Jam under the theme "Death is Good," this 2D speedrun maze-explorer flips the concept of failure on its head. Players navigate a labyrinth filled with deadly traps, but instead of avoiding them, strategic deaths are the key to progression.

This project was my first real developing experience, Using "Lua" in LOVE2d, I worked with two partners to create the entire game in 4 days. Throughout this project my main focus was coding the core mechanics of the game. Collision detection - specifically ladders and spikes, Player movement, including correlating the proper sprites to coincide with the actions that the player are making, creating the pause menu, and assisting with bug fixes.

Rink Rivals

Rink Rivals is a 2D top-down hockey-themed foosball game, developed in Lua using LOVE2d as a final assignment for a game development course. The game features classic hockey rival teams, the Montreal Canadiens and the Toronto Maple Leafs, bringing fast-paced, arcade-style action to the digital rink.

Developed in collaboration with a partner, this project was an opportunity to build foundational game development skills. I played a key role in programming core mechanics, including player movement, collision detection with the puck, nets, players, and rink boundaries. Despite our beginner status at the time, we tackled technical challenges head-on, refining our skills through iterative development.

Frogger Remake

As part of my game development class, I recreated the arcade classic Frogger using C++ within a custom SDL framework built by my class. This project challenged me to develop core gameplay mechanics, including player movement, traffic patterns, collision detection, and scoring systems.

Working within a custom framework provided valuable experience in low-level game programming, refining my understanding of graphics rendering, input handling, and optimization. This remake was a key milestone in my development journey, reinforcing my ability to translate classic gameplay into modern code while deepening my technical skills in C++ and SDL.

Flappy Bird Remake

As I began my game development journey, I utilized YouTube tutorials and online courses to learn coding using Lua in Pico-8, a fantasy console for pixel-style games. My first fully completed project was a remake of Flappy Bird, where I independently designed all graphics, player mechanics, collision systems, and the scoreboard.

This project was a turning point in my passion for game development, solidifying my drive to explore multiple programming languages and game engines. It served as an essential learning experience, sparking my excitement to continue refining my skills and pushing my creativity further.
